easy 1 mate just get ya self some very very fine wire wool and the smallest amount of wd40 mate place wd on the wire wool not on barrels as this may affect the blueing on the barrles and rub gently till the pitting has come off once done this wipe the excess wd 40 off the barrels then get some gun cleaning oil and place on a duster and give the barrels a real good rub down with an oily rag this should then protect the barrels from moisure. every time you have the gun out make sure you clean it properly in side and out and ALWAYS rub down with oil rag hopes this helps mate atb willum.

Thanks mate tried it there and the rust has come off. I also tried a bit of corrosion remover and left and slight amount on the barrel to prevent moisture affecting the barrel.

I was just getting a bit worried as the gun is only 6 months old .

I wouldn't use corrosion remover on a blued gun barrel. A little WD40 and wire wool (or a scrunched up bit of aluminium foil) to remove any spots, and a light oiling with gun oil or 3 in 1 is all that's required. Corrosion remover, if left on the barrel, may well damage the bluing!

To prevent rust, I use a vapour phase corrosion inhibitor. You buy it in a sachet from your gunsmith, sling it in the cabinet and the vapours find the steel in guns and attach to it, preventing rust from forming. Fantastic stuff, I used it to protect the steel in bridges on the M6 and it works a treat!

you can also use desicant crystals that you get in dehumidifyers that you place on windows in winter or the same little packets you get in new rifle scope boxs they will draw the moisture look on ebay under silica gel packs

Use any oil but not WD40 , this keeps rust in!! Also no use wire wool unless copper wire wool, steel wool make thing badder. :icon_eek: Use , if only available plastic wash up pad, & old engine oil
